I hit a major mile stone as wedding photographer this month. I am celebrating my 14th year in the biz. In honor of this very special milestone in my career I’ve decided to do a series of posts dedicated to my favorite things. As a wedding photographer that is. I could think of no better post to start with than the moment a couple see’s each other for the first time. “The 1st Look!”
In Judaism a couple meets prior to the ceremony to sign the Ketubah or wedding contract. With non Jewish couples this trend is only recently becoming popular for better time management on their big day.
Let me give you an example… With my own wedding, our ceremony and reception were held in the same place. So there would be no time lapse from ceremony to reception. Our guest literally turned around, walked 20 feet into the building and the cocktail hour began. We had 2 very large extended family photos to be taken after the ceremony. And a large bridal party. The only way we were going to have time to take all of the photos that we wanted was to meet hours before the ceremony. So on August 26th at 2 pm in the afternoon I met my cutie pie hubby on a bridge for our 1st look. It was magical! A moment I will remember forever.
We had allotted enough time for all of our bridal party shots, family portraits on both sides and of course the elegant portraits of my husband and I all before the ceremony. We even had 20 minutes to spare. And I can honestly say from a brides perspective… it did NOT take anything away from the moment when I walked down the aisle. To be truthful, I cried for both. So I dedicate this post to some of my favorite 1st looks over the past few years.
